Bun Christmas tree with herbs. A Christmas tree made of fluffy buns and fresh herbs ready to steal the show at the festive table.

  • 500 gr hard flour No 1 Agios Georgios Mills
  • 1 dry yeast Agios Georgios Mills
  • 1 pinch of sugar
  • 300 gr lukewarm water
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 egg wash

For serving

  • ¼ bunch of parsley, finely chopped
  • ¼ bunch of mint, finely chopped
  • 50 gr melted butter
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • freshly grated Parmesan cheese


  • In a large bowl add the hard flour, yeast and a pinch of sugar. Add the warm water and mix with a wooden spoon.
  • Add the olive oil and salt to the mixture. First mix with a wooden spoon and then knead by hand. Knead until you get a soft and pliable dough.
  • Lightly flour the bowl we used, return the dough, cover with a clean towel and let it rest. Wait until it doubles in volume, about 2 hours.
  • Shape 22 equal balls and form the tree. Start at the base with 6 balls, then add 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 at the top. Finally, add one more to the base.
  • Spread with a beaten egg and bake in a preheated oven at 170°C for 15-20 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, mix the fresh herbs, the melted butter and the chopped garlic.
  • Once it comes out of the oven, sprinkle the Christmas tree with the mixture of herbs and freshly grated parmesan.
