Hazelnut praline calzone with mascarpone and banana

October 13, 2021

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

Amazing hazelnut praline calzone with mascarpone and banana. An easy, fast and extremely enjoyable recipe. Ideal breakfast for young and old.

The weather is now quite autumnal. The sky is usually covered with clouds, raindrops are appearing more and more often and the ovens are on for good. The sweaters are more needed than ever, and warm and enjoyable mornings are now a must.

Mornings when in the background your favorite music is heard, the hot coffee is steaming and you are walking in front of the oven with impatience. And how can you not be impatient when these calzone are waiting for you in the oven? Because autumn mornings should be relaxing and full of nice flavors. And that’s how it is.

THE DOUGH FOR CALZONE

The dough for calzone is none other than the dough for pizza. A fluffy dough that has nothing to envy the doughs you will find in an Italian trattoria and they need 24 hours to mature. Do not be frightened. This dough in 65 minutes will be in the oven. Agios Georgios Mills took care of this by bringing to our kitchens the Easy Bake mixture for pizza. All you need to add is a little water and olive oil.

Easy bake mixtures stand out for their quality as, among other things, they do not contain palm oil. But why is it important not to have a palm oil product? Palm oil is a type of vegetable oil derived from the fruits of the palm tree and has gained great popularity among food producers, as there is a growing trend among consumers for products with only natural ingredients. However, the use of palm oil in the products has a negative impact on the planet as for years palm oil producers have destroyed huge areas of tropical forests which they have replaced with plantations for palm oil.

THE FILLING OF CALZONE

The filling for these delicious fluffy calzone includes hazelnut praline, mascarpone and banana slices. Personally, wanting to add a crunchy ingredient to it, I added crispy granola with pieces of dark chocolate. If you want instead of granola you can add some kind of nut. Hazelnuts are a perfect idea.

Do not skip, decrease or increase the dose of mascarpone. If you remove it the calzone it will become extremely sweet. While if you increase it, its taste will cover the taste of hazelnut praline. If you do not have mascarpone you may add ricotta.

Finally, as for the banana, you can also experiment and substitute it with another seasonal fruit. In this case, keep in mind that if you add an apple, for example, it will not soften easily if it is in large pieces.

  • 1 package  Easy Bake Pizza dough mixture
  • 280 gr water, lukewarm
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 tbsp hazelnut praline

  • Cut the dough into two equal parts and spread them with the help of a rolling pin. Cover and let rest in a warm place until doubled in volume (about 50 minutes)
  • On each dough spread 2 tbsp praline, 1 tbsp mascarpone, and 4-5 slices of banana. Optionally add a little granola with dark chocolate.

Notes

For a smaller calzone, you may cut the dough into four pieces instead of two. In this case, adjust the cooking time slightly down.
