As we approach Lent our need for vegan recipes grows. So I thought of making homemade almond milk which you will definitely love.
Homemade almond milk is perfect and you can add it to cereals, smoothies, your coffee or even to cakes, pancakes or crepes. If you ask me, homemade almond milk tastes much better than the commercial one. I think you will agree as soon as you try it, homemade is definitely better.

CAN I ADD ANY SWEETER?
If you want you can make homemade almond milk sweet by adding dates to it. Two soaked dates in the water are enough. Just add them to the blender – after removing the seed – together with the almonds and mash them.
HOW CAN I MAKE CHOCOLATE ALMOND MILK?
In case you want to give to the almond milk a more chocolate flavor then 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder are enough. Just add them to the blender along with the almonds.
HOW LONG DOES ALMOND MILK LAST?
While kept in an airtight container in the refrigerator, homemade almond milk is fresh for 3-4 days.
WHAT CAN I DO WITH ALMOND FEATHER?
After draining the almonds, do not throw away the almond pulp. You can dry it in the oven, at a very low temperature so that it does not burn and add it to various recipes. For example, I put it in homemade granola. If you want you can grind it even more and turn it into almond flour.

Homemade almond milk
Ingredients
- 1 cup raw almonds
- 4 cups water
Instructions
- In a large bowl add the almonds along with water. Let soak for at least 8 hours, or overnight.
- Drain the almonds and discard the water in which they were soaked.
- In a blender, add the almonds together with a cup of water. Mash the almonds as much as possible.
- Strain the almond milk through a nut-milk bag or cheese cloth, squeezing well to extract the extra liquid.
- Add the remaining cups of water to the milk and mix.
- Transfer the milk to a bottle and put it in the fridge. Almond milk is stored for up to 4 days. Shake well before use.

So that’s my recipe for homemade almond milk. A vegan milk of superior taste that I believe will steal your heart. You can if you want to give it a sweet more, or make it chocolate. And of course do not forget to keep the pulp.
